Veterans Day

Veterans Day will always be special to me.
Having a Husband who has been in the Guard for 6 years (just re-enlisted for 3 more),
and having gone through a year long Deployment,
I personally know the sacrifices our Armed Service members experience.

They miss Holidays,
Birthdays.
They miss family gatherings.
Graduations.
Weddings.

They miss birth's of their children.
Seeing their children grow.
They miss first steps and first words.
First teeth and first baths.

They miss date nights and family movie nights.
The comfort of a safe and warm bed.
They miss family breakfasts and nightly dinners.
Talking to family at decent hours.

They miss family.
They miss friends.

They miss little things like Chipotle and Beer.
[Some may say those are big things ;) ]
They miss cuddling on the couch.
Driving their civilian vehicles and wearing civilian clothes.

These men and women are courageous.
They stand and fight for things the rest of us take for granted.
They miss out on everyday life and special events so they can keep our country safe.

I am so thankful to all the Service men and women for all they do.
I am especially thankful for the one I call my Husband.

This Veterans Day, we were lucky enough to have him home!
We went to a parade with his old Squad Leader and his family.
