The week from... well...

Following the horrible hospital stay we had,
my next week was spent on the phone, all day every day.

dealing with doctors, members from all different areas of the hospital, the home health company,
making followup appointments.

And with almost every single one of them, there were multiple calls back and forth.

The most time consuming of these calls was with the hospital.

I called everyone possible to ensure we didn't get charged for the extra nights we were forced to stay in the hospital because of lack of communication.
After hours, and I truly mean hours, on the phone with multiple people, we received a letter from the Chief of the Hospitalist Devision.
The letter stated

Thank you for sharing your concerns related to service and communication issues. Our commitment at this hospital to our patients and their families is taken very seriously. We apologize for the difficulty you encountered, and we want you to know that we have followed up on the concerns you raised.
This letter confirms that as a courtesy, an adjustment to your insurance and your responsibility will be brought to a zero balance for Cooper's January 17 and 18 dates of service.

So thankfully the hospital saw the issues and listened to our concerns.
It was a long battle but worth it!

P.S.
Hospital stays are ridiculously expensive.
I don't understand it.
Especially considering we were sharing a room for one of the nights and then the other nights didn't offer any more space once the other patient was discharged.
We just received the "This is not a bill" bill.
Unbelievable.
They billed over 33.5 thousand dollars to insurance for the hospital stay alone.
That doesn't include the surgeons bill, or and of the doctors who visited us in the room.
I remember Coopers bill from his stay when he was 2 months old and had his two surgeries.
The facility fee for staying 16 days at the hospital was billed at over $125,000.

Insurance is not a joke.
Even though it is a pain to deal with,
I am extremely grateful every day that we have great coverage!
