Memorial Day

As the wife of a soldier,
very few things make me happier than seeing support and gratitude shown towards service members and all they sacrifice.

As people are giving all this support via social media,
Thanking veterans and active duty members,
it's not that the "thank you's" are not appreciated today,
because they ALWAYS will be.
ALWAYS.

But as you are thanking all these veterans and active duty military members,
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
say a thank you and spend some time remembering those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives,
as that is what Memorial Day is truly about.

God Bless those who have fallen, but never forgotten.

National Eosinophil Awareness Week 2015

So I am assuming that every one of you who have read this blog, know that Cooper has Eosinophilic Esophagitis.

This week is Eosinophil Awareness Week, so I am going to post a few links to some things that can help explain and put the word out about what Cooper deals with.

If you are interested, please take a few minutes to learn a little more about it, as it is fairly newer and there isn't a lot of knowledge about it.

Fact Sheet
learn what Eosinophils are, and the 8 different diseases they effect.
Cooper's is EoE

Can you say Eosinophilic?
learn how to pronounce it, and a few tiny facts about what it is.

Awareness video
this is a short 4 minute video that has tons of info presented!

DumDums Are a Food Group
Seriously.
They are.
This is a cute little flyer that explains how debilitating these diseases are.
We are lucky enough to have 5 safe foods for Cooper right now, so he is better off than some who literally can only have Dumdums and formula

Donate
If you are feeling generous, please donate to the cause to help fund research and possibly an eventual cure.

If you would like to show your support you can wear a magenta shirt and spread the word about Eosinophils.

And if you are looking for more ways to get involved to help bring about awareness, you can click the following link to the website

BRUMKINS WEDDING!!!!!

One of my best friends got married in March and her wedding was just perfect!
I'm so happy for her and her husband after all these years!
They started dating 6 days before Jeff and I, and we both actually were the ones to help get our, now husbands, to ask us out. How crazy is that??

Anyway,
CONGRATULATIONS Mr. and Mrs. Brumby!

Best day ever!

Last week we received the best news!

Ok, so it may not have been the best day ever, but it was pretty exciting day!!

We were approved to get a smaller more portable pump for Cooper!!

Heck yes!!

The pump they gave us out of the hospital was heavy and bulky, and the backpack literally was the entire length of Cooper's torso, plus some.
It was beyond huge for him, which made feedings more difficult.
He had to be sitting in his high chair for an hour 2-4 times a day depending on what he drank orally. Or if we were out running errands or at doctors appointments, mom or dad wore the backpack and cooper was attached and had to stay right next to us.
There were some strange looks from people for that.
It almost looked like he was on a leash, but it was connected to his belly.

I'm not kidding, this bag was huge on him and he wasn't able to have mobility when he was getting a feed. Which is a NIGHTMARE with a 2 year old. He gets ancy or otherwise winds up watching hours of TV a day.

Well we now have a pump and a backpack that together weighs about 2 lbs and it fits!!!!
He can walk around with it!
WE HAVE MOBILITY!!
Now Cooper can play and do whatever he wants while he is getting a tube feed!!

YESSSSSS!!!!

He is still getting used to it, but this new pump and backpack are going to make it so much easier during feeds!

Plus, he looks ADORABLE with his mini backpack :)

Mama's Day

Happy Mama's Day to all you Mama's out there!

I have had a wonderful Mama's day so far!
Jeff is at work, but I had my mom and dad, mother in law, sister in law and brother in low over for a Mother's Day brunch!

I am so fortunate to have an incredible mom and the best mother in law!
I love getting to spend time with family, so a brunch was the perfect way to celebrate today!
I wish Jeff was able to be there for more of it!

I hope everyone spoils their Mamas today!
